How the blank-map quizzes work, which answers are accepted and how the score is calculated.
The clock runs while you type names into the box below the map, in any order. A correct name lights up on the map straight away and the box clears, no Enter needed. When time runs out or you give up, everything you missed is shown in red.
The quiz names a place and you tap it. After the third wrong tap the place is revealed and the next one comes up. First try earns a full point, second try half, third a quarter. The clock only measures your time.
Places too small to tap with a finger (Vatican City, Monaco, Caribbean and Pacific islands) get a circle. You can also zoom: pinch with two fingers, scroll, double-tap or use the +/− buttons.
No. “Sao Tome”, “São Tomé” and “SAO TOME” all count. Case, hyphens and full stops do not matter either.
The common English name, well-known short forms (USA, UK, DRC) and the Slovak name as well. For regions and ranges you can leave out words like “Region” or “Mountains”.
When what you typed is the start of another name you have not found yet (Niger and Nigeria, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau), the quiz waits a moment in case you keep typing. Press Enter or just pause.
197: all 193 UN members plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. Dependent territories such as Greenland are grey on the map and are not asked.
Your best result for each quiz is stored only in your browser. There are no accounts, no database and nothing is sent anywhere.
